The library has noticed a small percentage of users have received an ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR or "cannot establish a secure connection" message when trying to access library resources off-campus. This issue is related to old information being cached in your browser.
Most users have resolved the error by clearing their internet browser cache and cookies. A step-by-step guide is attached below. It's important to clear out cookies and cache from all time, not just from a particular time period. Once these items have been cleared, restart your internet browser and try accessing the resource again.
Also, make sure your date and time are set correctly on your computer.
If you are using MAC OS and this process does not resolve the error, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. The process to clear out the cache in MAC OS is different than Windows. We have not had the opportunity to troubleshoot and document the process yet.
