The pin icon 
is used to save results in OneSearch. This is also referred to as "My Favorites". In previous versions of OneSearch, this appeared as a star icon instead of a pin.

You need to sign into OneSearch in order to save or retrieve favorites. If you pin items without signing in, you will lose those items when the browser session is closed or expired.
